Tips For Bathroom Remodeling

Have you decided to remodel your bathrooms? Bathroom remodeling projects can be quite an investment provided you make the right improvements.

Aside from providing the comfort you need and reflecting your style, you want a bathroom that has high-quality fixtures that are functional and stand the test of time. This way when it is time to resell the property, you can ask for a good price.

Bathroom remodeling can look like a tall task but with meticulous planning and careful designing, you should be able to build a bathroom that you love.

Check out these tips to assist you with bathroom remodeling:

1. Plan for your budget

There is usually more than one person who uses the bathroom. Before you go ahead and speak to a contractor, ask everyone who uses the bathroom and what changes they would like to be made. Ask about the fixtures and the finishing they would want and determine a budget for the project. Remember to always keep a bit of a cushion in case things end up costing a little more (they usually do).

It’s best not to be overambitious with your bathroom remodeling. We would all love to have a luxurious bathroom with rainfall showers and massive round bathtubs but most of us don’t have the cash or the space.

Be realistic with your budget; even with a tight budget, an experienced contractor will be able to design and build a bathroom that fits comfortably in your budget.

a) Choosing Bathroom Layouts

At least one bathroom in the house has all the essentials – a toilet, sink and bathtub. Fancier bathrooms are equipped with other fixtures including showers, an extra sink and even a bidet.

Select a bathroom layout that best satisfies your needs. Think of ways to maximize your space and increase functionality.

b) Standard Bathroom VS Customized Bathrooms

Standard bathrooms consist of all the basics; customized bathrooms have a few more suite fixtures.

Customized bathrooms have countertops that match the tiles, walls and plumbing fixtures. They may even have built-in cabinets.

c) Wet Rooms

Wet rooms are for small bathrooms that cannot fit a bathtub or even an enclosure. That water exits via a drain present on the floor. These are best for small bathrooms built on a very tight budget.

2. Lighting Design

Don’t overlook lighting in a bathroom. Certain lights will make a bathroom look more comfortable and luxurious than others. Also, a well-lit vanity area will reduce shadows on your face.

There may be times where you don’t want the bathroom to light up brightly so it helps to install a dimmer.

3. Ventilation Solutions

Ventilation solutions should never be ignored. No one likes a wet and smelly bathroom; no matter how much you spend on a bathroom, if it feels damp and has an unpleasant smell, it’s going to put people off.

Leave space for an exhaust fan to remove moisture from the air and prevent the buildup of mildew.
